Retreading creates more value to your budget and helps our environment by recycling your tires. We proudly operate Oregon's only Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) manufacturing facility. MRT is one of the safest, most sophisticated, reliable and value added retreading processes in the world. STS also operates an Industrial Retread Plant based in Longview, Washington rounding out a broad range of superior retread solutions.

Receiving

All casings first come in to this area of the retread plant to be stacked by customer and tire size. A tag number is assigned to each unit at the customer's site. This is our standard procedure, but we could adapt it to suit your particular needs.

Initial Grazing Light Inspection

The next step is for each casing to be individually inspected for retread ability - inside and out. We establish "repair limits" for each customer based on their requirements and type of usage they will undergo. All our casings are retreaded for your own specific application(s). At this point our technician uses a Grazing Light to inspect the sidewalls from shoulder to bead. Subtle irregularities, such as zippers, not easily seen by the naked eye are observed with the light, and verified at the next station.

X-Ray Inspection

MRT's advanced Flouroscopic X-Ray System visually inspects the steel belts and cables hidden with the casing. It reveals the status of suspected conditions such as zippers, road hazard damage, run-flat abuse, and prior repairs.
